DADi’s Business Lunch ‘n Learn this Thursday

DADi is hosting this Thursday a Lunch ‘n Learn for the businesses in Deuel County’s owners, managers and general public.  Luke Faulstick of SD Partners will give an update on what’s happening there, Daryl Feilmeier will share the latest with DC Farmer’s Union Oil, and Amber Peterreins on her new business in the area.  The purpose of these lunches is to touch base with other business people in the county, network and create an environment that we’re in this together to keep our county alive and well.  The public is invited as this is an informal gathering and this time will be held at HD Electric Co-op this Thursday, October 24th at 11:30pm.  The speakers will start about noon and it will go until 1:00pm.  You do need to RSVP to 874.8038 because Subs will be served at $5.00, and bring your own drink.  Come and connect.

We Need Volunteers and Caring for Healthy Hometowns to Work

Wellmark Healthy Hometown meeting will be Tuesday, November 5th at 5:30pm and will be held at H-D Electric Co-op in their community room. A light meal will be available. Please RSVP if you can attend as the meeting is for ANYONE interested in giving direction and helping Clear Lake create a vision for the future.  This vision is a journey for our community to take healthy steps as there are over 100 proven ways to help our community. This could include:

  • Making active transportation (walking & biking) safe and inviting. This could include complete street policies, walkability and bikeability. Even identifying safe walking routes.
  • Healthy food options readily available in vending and concession stands. Encourage non-food fundraisers. Even cooking classes during summer recreation.
  • Connecting with volunteer opportunities to provide inviting places for people to gather to enhance social interactions.

We want to make positive and lasting changes that enhance well-being in our community; to eat well, move more, feel better. In order to do this, a group of interested volunteers are developing a vision and master plan for our future. Let’s decide where we’re going; measureable goals and outcomes to find that success; how are we going to get there and the tactics we are going to use; and who will keep us going.  We need your involvement. Don’t let complacency or apathy rule; think about what you can give back to your community and join us November 5 at 5:30 pm by RSVPing prior at 605.874.8038.
