Deuel Area Development, Inc.
August 24, 2020 Updates
I have been pleased that Deuel County small businesses are supporting DADi’s economic and community efforts by joining yearly with a membership. Memberships begin at $50 and go all the way up to $5,000. As I’ve stated a few times, in the United States, economic development is a local responsibility. State and federal programs can help some, but at the end of the day the future of our county and its’ communitys’ rests with us…those that call Deuel County home.
Alumni, friends of Deuel County, newcomers to the area, are also encouraged to gift to DADi via memorial gifts, gifts of grain, and by outright giving support and can do it through various ways. One such way is through our DADi website under “About Us”; we make it easy to donate online.
We are planting seeds that we’ll grow our business community, create job opportunities to expand our local tax base, and work to the future to build community capacity and be a vibrant place for people to flourish, earn a productive living and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. It’s a constant job to protect our lifestyle with long term funding to support area wide development efforts.
Already this year, the DADi office has worked with eleven entrepreneurs in spite of Covid. DADi is that “go-to office” in helping with employees for local businesses, to help transition to a new owner, to help with small grants for Serv-safe, or help Ag with wind tower support. Your funds go to helping maintain all the programs we have going and to look to the future ones.
DADi’s next board meeting is October 12th at 5:30 pm and at this time will be located at the new 4-H Extension Office.
A reminder to groups and organizations that DADi would like to have the representative from the Community Transit of Watertown/Sisseton, Inc. come as a program and share about how we would like to get local Deuel County Community Transit off the ground. Call 605.882.5287 for more information.
We’re excited with the new owners and future of Tail Feathers Restaurant, Bar & Bowling Alley (formerly Sports Page in Clear Lake). My understanding too is bowling league sign-ups are happening now. Clear Lake Golf Club has golfing specials on Tuesdays, as well as now the grill is open starting at 11am. Workforce is a problem whereever one is, but it’s particularly more difficult in a smaller community. Please remember if you’re looking for employment, or a business looking for employees, DADi can try to help, 874.8038.
